The role of a designer is ever-changing. When I first joined the industry (more years ago than I like to remember), I worked mainly in print and packaging design.

Then along came the web…and I moved into website design, internet ads, email newsletters etc.

The latest big thing for my clients is content management systems (CMS), which allow them to update and maintain their own websites and to manage their email marketing campaigns.

And so my role is changing again. In recent days, I’ve done training sessions for two clients, to help them get the most from their CMS and websites.

The other areas where I’m helping clients develop their skills include:

* Understanding how Google works - Adwords, Google Analytics, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
* How to manage images for the web

But the more things change, the more they stay the same. Good quality print design remains integral to many businesses.
